Russian corporate fund Sistema_VC backs UK agritech startup

Sistema_VC, one of the venture investment vehicles of Russian conglomerate Sistema, announces it has led a £3.4 million round for UK agrotech startup KisanHub. Two UK-based funds, Notion and IQ Capital also participated in the round.

KisanHub helps global food and beverage companies “manage their supply chains efficiently by connecting directly with their farmers to collect information and by revealing supply-chain insights.”

“Supply chains are one of the most complex and least efficient components in the business of delivering goods from farmers to consumers. And when they don’t function effectively, whole communities around the globe suffer,” the company explains.  KisanHub’s solution helps companies make their activity more “predictable and profitable,” helping enterprises and farmers “move from intuition-based decision-making to analytical decision-making.”

Headquartered in Cambridge, UK with operations in Pune, India, KisanHub currently has 14 enterprise clients using its platform. The fresh funding will help the company scale up its platform “across multiple geographies.”
Sistema_VC targets deep tech startups and brands rooted in knowledge-intensive, hard-to-copy technologies.

The fund’s portfolio includes both Russian and foreign companies, such as DataSine in the UK and YouDo.com in Moscow. Another corporate fund of Sistema, Sistema Asia Capital, is dedicated to investment in Indian tech startups.
