TON, Pavel Durov’s blockchain platform, prepares for launch in 10 countries

Telegram Open Network (TON), Pavel Durov’s darknet blockchain platform, and its cryptocurrency Gram, could be launched publicly as soon as March 2019 – a bit later than initially planned – according to Russian tech publication The Bell.

Another Russian tech media, Kod Durova (‘Durov’s code’) puts the launch date at the second quarter of this year.

Meanwhile, a test platform dubbed ‘Testnet’ is already operational and could be presented imminently to the backers of last year’s ICO.

These investors brought to the project at least $1.7 billion.

A source told Kod Durova that Durov might present TON at the World Economic Forum, which is taking place these days in Davos.

While Durov declined to comment, The Bell also learned that the TON legal team is studying the legal environment of more than 10 countries, preparing the platform for global expansion. TON is said to be “working actively” with cryptocurrency exchanges from Japan, China and the UK, sources said.
