MTS to further develop 3G in Bashkortostan

The Bashkir subsidiary of MTS, a leading Russian mobile operator, has agreed with the Bashkir government to invest over 2 billion rubles ($67 million) in developing its network in Bashkortostan between now and the end of 2012.

MTS will devote a large part of its investment to developing the 3G network. In 2011, MTS plans to deploy mobile broadband to more than 100 cities in Bashkortostan. MTS is also developing a fixed-mobile convergence project for the Bashkir government.

According to ComNews.ru, one of every four MTS subscribers in Bashkortostan already uses mobile Internet frequently.
