Mail.Ru Group acquires online recruiting service Worki

Moscow-based online recruiting service Worki, “is now part of Mail.Ru Group,” the company reported in its blog, without specifying the size and price of the stake acquired by the group.

“After the deal is settled, Worki will work in synergy with other projects of Mail.ru Group, including its classifieds website Youla, thus increasing the group’s presence on the classifieds jobs market,” RNS news agency reported, quoting Mail.ru Group’s press service.

Worki (initially known as ‘Iconjob’ and ‘Radar’) is a mobile-first HR SaaS-enabled classifieds service in Russia. It was founded by Pavel Guzhikov in 2016 with an initial investment of $1 million. The company claims to be using AI and machine learning to help job seekers and HR specialists meet one another, using a specified geolocation if need be. Worki makes money by offering paid subscription plans to employers.

The company now claims to serve more than five million active job seekers, with 150,000 responses daily. Most of the jobs on the Worki platform came from retailers and HoReCa, Guzhikov said last year.

According to information from background checking company Kontur.Focus, until recently, Guzhikov owned 49% stake in the company, and 51% of the shares belonged to Cyprus-based Iconjob Limited.
