Russian e-commerce research: Market analysis, operational challenges, players’ strategies

International brands and retailers selling to Russia, or considering doing so, are invited to participate in an online survey. They will receive the research report free of charge upon release.

While Russian e-commerce is entering a promising development cycle, information about this market is hardly available to international audiences. Not only is the topic rarely covered by mainstream media and industry reports, but when it is, facts and data are often erroneous or distorted.

East-West Digital News has released an in-depth study on Russian e-commerce with participation from leading market players and experts. Click here to download your free copy.

This lack of information and the spreading of inaccurate data may create or entertain wrong perceptions about the Russian e-commerce market, its size, characteristics and potential, as well as its players.

Addressing these issues, East-West Digital News is preparing an internationally-oriented industry report based on contributions from key market players and the best industry experts.

Among these are Data Insight, Russia’s leading data provider in this field, the E-Commerce Russia Association (NAMO), Ecommerce Foundation, an international expertise center based in the Netherlands, e-commerce associations from several countries as well as such industry resources as InternetRetailer.com (Digitial360) and ThePaypers.

Also involved in the initiative are such market leaders as Yandex, Ozon, Lamoda, Mail.Ru Group, Auchan, Leroy Merlin as well as PickPoint, Shiptor, Yandex Money and many others.

The initiative, though, is open to all interested Russian or foreign organizations. These may participate in terms of editorial contributions and/or financial support, while receiving substantial PR and marketing benefits.

International survey and executive interviews

The research will include two parts. The first one is dedicated to market data, trend analysis, key market players, their business models and investors’ strategies. The second one covers operational aspects – from payments, to logistics and deliveries, to sales channels and marketing, to legal and taxes. The report will be released in June 2019.

A survey and a series of executive interviews will aim to analyze the perceptions, activities and strategies of brands, retailers and investors as far as the Russian e-commerce market is concerned.

The report will be distributed among international e-commerce and investor communities with support from industry media, events and associations, as well as the EM-Comms communications agency.

Since 2012, EWDN has published a number of internationally-oriented industry reports. A previous research series on Russian e-commerce, in partnership with PWC, EY and Higher School of Economics, was published in 2012-2015.
