Yandex.Taxi and Uber.EATS launch dedicated food delivery subsidiary

Yandex.Taxi — the taxi service of Yandex which is in the process of merging its activities with Uber in Russia and neighboring countries — intends to group the food deliver services under its control in a dedicated subsidiary, ‘Yandex.Eda.’

The new company will be part of the holding structure which will be formed as the result of the merger with Uber, the Yandex.Taxi press service told the RNS news agency.

Thus Yandex.Eda will control, in particular, the Russian division of UberEATS and the food delivery service Foodfox, which Yandex.Taxi acquired in November last year.

The Russian food delivery market has been heating up with a series of recent investment, merger and acquisition deals over the past year. These deals involved, in particular, Mail.Ru Group (acquisition of Delivery Club and ZakaZaka) and Mitsui (investment in ChefMarket).
