Russian medical appointment startup secures $4 million from local fund

Moscow based fund Guard Capital has invested $4 million in DocDoc.ru, a startup that helps users find doctors and setup medical appointments across 15 Russian cities.

The terms of the transactions have not been disclosed, but in an exchange with Rusbase.com, Guard Capital Investment Director Vladimir Grigorashenko indicated that the last tranche of the investment had been provided in January 2016.

This is not the first time Guard Capital has invested in e-medicine. In 2014 the fund invested twice in DoktorNaRabote, including a $2.8 million capital injection in October 2014.

DocDoc already secured $1 million from another Russian venture fund, Aurora Venture Capital, soon after its launch in 2012, as reported by Rusbase.

The startup claims to have enrolled so far more than 21,700 physicians from 1,624 clinics, and to have served more than 350,000 patients since the launch of the service.

Among DocDoc’s competitors is Eruditor, which helps users find hairdressers, fitness instructors, plumbers, or doctors via specialized service marketplaces. The startup has been generously funded by Russian and international venture funds.
