Software and IT service export reached $6 billion in 2014

Russia’s domestic software development market reached approximately $6 billion in 2014 — the same amount in US dollars as in the previous year, but slightly more if counted in rubles, even taking into account inflation, according to industry association RUSSOFT.

Export of software and IT services accounted for another $6 billion, up 11% from 2013. The growth rate is slowing down due mainly to the negative international climate. In particular, the RUSSOFT experts note that the volume of services provided by development centers in Russia to the mother companies decreased by some 5%.

The companies surveyed by RUSSOFT expect the export market to grow by 16% this year and their revenues by 10%.

Export of software and IT services accounted for 1.2% of total Russian export (up from 1% in 2013 ad 0.8% in 2011), as Russian export fell from $523,2 billion до $498 billion last year.

According to the association, six software developers or publishers from Russia, or with Russian origins, generated more than $1 billion in revenues last year. These top players are 1C, Cognitive Technologies, EPAM Systems, Kaspersky Lab, Center for Financial Technologies and Luxoft.

Eight others generate from $100 million to $500 million: ABBYY, Acronis, CBOSS, Parallels, SKB Kontur, Prognoz, TRANSAS and Veeam.
