Graphics and gamification enter Skolkovo IT cluster crosshairs for 2015

Startups dealing with computer graphics and so-called gamification will now be able to apply for Skolkovo grants and residency under new plans for 2015 published by the IT cluster.

Graphics and gamification form one of three new technology foresights added to the cluster’s strategic development vision this year. The other two, robotics and mobile technology, have de facto been part of the cluster for months.

“Modern computer games demand a serious scientific base,” said Nikolai Suetin, director of IT science and technology Nikolai Suetin. “We’re talking about the possibilities of building realistic 3D images, about serious graphics, and even about new materials and devices,” he added.

“All of these technologies are also in very high demand for creating software for modern business.”

The foresight is centered around creating new virtual domains, developing graphical visualizations and surround sound. The cluster welcomes teams that can integrate their technology with modern multi-user platforms and develop algorithms, hardware and software to playback realistic scenarios in real time, including on mobile devices.

The cluster encourages the development of new gaming interfaces such as gestures, vision and voice to give new life to augmented reality.

The addition of graphics and gamification takes the number of IT cluster foresights to 12.
