iPhone 5S leads the way in Yandex.Market smartphone rankings

According to the Yandex.Market rankings, the three smartphone brands leading the way in Russia include Apple, Samsung, and Sony. The iPhone 5S currently holds first place in the Yandex.Market smartphone ratings. The iPhone 5S has only fallen second to Samsung Galaxy once since the iPhone 5S was released in Russia last fall.

The iPhone 5S dropped to second place this past May but again rose to the top by June. This July, Samsung Galaxy trailed iPhone 5S by approximately 40% of search queries.

Two Sony smartphones, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z2, currently maintain the next two competitive spots.  Recently, the Sony Xperia Z2 fell from second to fourth place on Yandex.Market.

The middle ranking spots on the list contain phones that have been on the market for some time. The iPhone 4S (8 GB), Samsung Galaxy S4 (16 GB), and Samsung Galaxy S III (16 GB) have all dropped in price but still remain in high demand in Russia.

Two new smartphones, which also work on different operating systems derived from Microsoft, currently hold positions in the eighth and ninth slots. The Nokia Lumia 630 Dual SIM is based on the traditional Windows Phone.  The smartphone supports two SIM cards like the ninth place smartphone, Nokia XL Dual SIM, which is the largest of the Android Line. Russians frequently maintain multiple phones and SIM cards with different mobile providers, making these specific phones particularly attractive to Russians.
