Prime Minister Medvedev: No one expected such an influence of social networks on politics

At a meeting yesterday with young innovators, the head of government was asked whether technological solutions or social activity most change the world. Medvedev responded that both are changing the world equally.

“Even ten years ago no one expected, and this is obvious, that social networks would have such an influence on political developments. At first, everyone thought they were some kind of amusement for young people where they could write slime to each other, but overall it was no big deal; let them amuse themselves,” the Prime Minister recalled.

However, it turned out that this was not case. Firstly, not only do young people write and, secondly, it is not only slime that is written,” he added.

He called social networks a real instrument that directly affects the development of civilization.
