One year after launch, Yandex’s browser attracts 10 million users

Yandex.Browser, a free web browser developed by Russia’s leading search engine, Yandex, has 10 million weekly active users one year after its launch on October 1, 2012, as reported by Yandex.

Integrated with the Yandex search engine, the Yandex.Browser project uses open-source software WebKit and Chromium. Yandex asserted that the site gained a five percent share of the Russian market of desktop browsers in May. In June, a mobile version of the browser was launched.

“The Yandex.Browser is only one year old, and it will be further developed. A new version of the product is already being prepared for launch. In the near future, Yandex will introduce users to a public beta version. Anyone will be able to take part in its testing and send comments,” say Yandex developers.

Yandex.Browser currently boasts 14.5 million unique monthly users. On average, these users visit 615 pages per month on the browser and download approximately 19 files.
