Geolocated job search app launches in Moscow with $300,000 angel support

Qwenty, a Moscow based startup developing a mobile app for geolocated job searches, has raised $300,000 from serial startup investor Igor Ryabenkiy via his fund Altair. The fund now holds a 35% stake in the startup, the news agency RIA Novosti reported.

The iOS and Android app, which is scheduled for launch in Moscow later this week, is intended primarily for students who may look for jobs in cafés or stores near their homes.  Searches can be filtered by position, salary level, working schedule, or metro station.

Employers may post their job offers via the Qwenty website. Among the startup’s first clients are Samsung and Zara as well as consumer electronics retailers Bely Veter and ION, and restaurant chains Dve Palochki and Yaposha, said Qwenty’s co-founder Dmitry Tarchuk.

The startup has plans for further expansion to St. Petersburg and other Russian cities next year.

Previously, Tarchuk founded MDK, a popular community on Russia’s leading social network Vkontakte.ru.
