RBC reorganizes its Internet assets

RBC, one of Russia’s largest media groups in the online, television, print media, hosting and domain name registration segments, is restructuring its B2C Internet assets, the group’s press service stated in an exchange with East-West Digital News.

Managed by Media Mir, a company within the group, these assets will be reorganized into three distinct segments. The first will integrate entertainment projects into Relax.ru, a recently launched umbrella website. By the end of the year, the existing entertainment websites of the Qip.ru portal will undergo a complete overhaul and will be merged into Relax.ru as subdomains or as site sections.

RBC’s press service could not say, however, whether the service LovePlanet.ru, an important property of the group, would also migrate to Relax.ru.

The second segment will be dedicated to online IM and communication services, which will remain under the QIP brand. The third segment will consolidate RBC/Media Mir’s online advertising networks into a unique brand and technology framework.

Earlier this year RBC embarked on a large-scale strategic program called “Under the Sign of Change” in an effort to overhaul its core media outlets.

The monthly audience of RBC’s Internet properties reached 26.9 million users from 12 to 64 years of age as of February 2013, according to TNS.

In 2012 RBC Group’s revenue increased 21% to 5.68 billion, including 3.86 billion (approximately $190 million and $128 million, respectively) for Internet-related activities.
