OZON Group reached $492 million GMV and $250 million net sales in 2012

The OZON Group, comprised of OZON.ru, O-Courier, OZON.travel, Sapato.ru and eSolutions, has today announced its financial results for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2012. The company reached $492 million GMV [1] and $250 million net sales, growing by 67% and 55% respectively from the previous year.

The announcement highlights the significant growth in revenue of 67% for the year in dollar terms. The company also recently created eSolutions, a B2B service aimed at helping other companies, both Russian and international brands, advance in the field of e-commerce. “In 2012 OZON.ru built on the extraordinary growth seen in 2011, continuing to expand our product assortment, grow our delivery network and improve our customer service. We also made our first acquisition and started to offer our services to 3rd parties, strengthening our position of #1 e-commerce platform in Russia,” said Maëlle Gavet, CEO of OZON Holdings.

“In fact, it’s expected that within the next five years when a Russian customer makes an online purchase the majority of them will be doing so through OZON, either because the purchase is being made through one of our B2C websites or because the website is powered by OZON through O’Courier, eSolutions, or one of the many other projects we are currently working on,” Gavet added.

2012 Financial Summary

OZON reported revenues of $492 million for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2012, a 67% increase in dollar value compared to the 2011 fiscal year. Note that in ruble value, this figure is 73% – a variance owing to exchange rate fluctuations. The revenue figures cited here include gross merchandise value and gross bookings.

OZON reported net sales of $250 million for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2012, a 55% increase in dollar value compared to the 2011 fiscal year (63% in ruble value). Following are key highlights within the OZON Group for 2012:

OZON.ru

  • OZON.ru has 2,200,000 products in its assortment
  • OZON.ru experienced a 53% growth across all non-media categories
  • OZON.ru is the #1 online retailer of books (63,8%) and children’s goods (43,1%) in Russia [2]
  • Media remains a key category with 36% of total revenues
  • 55% of sales at OZON.ru originated in the region
  • Preferred method of payment is COD, used by 77% of all customers
SAPATO.ru

  • SAPATO.ru has over 175,000 shoes and accessories
  • SAPATO.ru saw 63% of sales from the regions
  • Preferred method of payment is COD, used by 96% of all customers
OZON.travel
  • OZON.travel has 700 airlines and 278,000 hotels currently available to book along with multiple types of insurance for travelers
  • Domestic flight bookings were up in 2012 with 54% of the total number of orders – this compared to 49% in 2011
  • OZON.travel preferred method of payment is via bank cards at 77%, this due to the travel industry as a whole and they type of services offered which make payment by credit or bank card more practical

O-Courier

  • O-Courier shipped 3.1 million orders to its customers in 2012. This was a significant jump as compared to 2 million orders shipped in 2011.
  • O-Courier delivers orders to 2,100 pick-up-points across the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan
  • Warehouse – at the end of 2012 a new building within the operational and logistics complex in the industrial zone in Tver region was erected and put into operation. Currently, the total area of the complex is over 28,000 square meters with the ability to house over 9 million goods.
Traffic

OZON.ru, OZON.travel and SAPATO.ru customer traffic statistics are as follows:
  • OZON.ru, OZON.travel and SAPATO.ru saw a significant growth in customer traffic with more than 14.5 million registered users as compared to 10.7 million in 2011
  • Monthly traffic to all sites is over 24 million visits – up from 15.5 million in 2011
