Aurora invests $1 million in 3D interior design startup

Russian venture fund Aurora Venture Capital has invested 30 million rubles, or a little less than $1 million, in Apartama.ru, a Moscow-based online retailer of furniture, house appliances and interior design items.

The deal was reported yesterday by Russian news agency RIA Novosti, citing Aurora’s Managing partner Vsevolod Topolyansky. The terms of the transacton were not disclosed, but Topolyansky said his fund received a stake of “up to 50%” in the startup.

Established in April of this year, Apartama aggregates offers from more than thirty Russian and foreign manufacturers and retailers, and claims to have attracted 40,000 unique users last month. The startup has developed a 3D technology that allows users to visualize the items as they will look in their apartment or office

Established in 2010 by Russian and foreign businessmen, Aurora focuses on Internet and other technology projects in Russia and neighboring countries. It has invested in several Russian startups so far, including ‘Doctor At Work,’ a physicians’ online community, and XLander.ru, a Russian social network designed for frequent travelers.
