‘Doctor At Work’ secures $1 million from Bright Capital

Bright Capital, a major Russian venture fund operating internationally, announced last week its investment in Doktornarabote.ru (‘Doctor At Work’), Russia’s leading physicians’ community with nearly 80,000 registered practitioners. The fund offered $1 million in exchange for a minority stake in the startup online community, reported CNews.ru, a Russian IT news portal.

Released in March 2010, the site won several Russian awards as well as the British Council’s International Young Media Entrepreneurship Award, in 2011.

Doctor At Work’s first rounds of financing amounted to $300,000 in June 2010 and $500,000 in March 2011. Its monthly turnover now reaches 1 million rubles, or approximately $30,000, according to CNews.ru.

Russian online medical resources are becoming hot in the eyes of investors, as witnessed by another investment announced earlier this month by MirVracha.ru, a physicians’ portal that secured $1.4 million from Japanese investors.
