Russia and Singapore to develop IT projects

Senior Russian and Singaporean representatives meeting at bilateral commission in Moscow on Tuesday have agreed to develop cooperation in the information technology sector – in particular in the sphere of personal data security.

According to Russian Vice PM Vyacheslav Volodin, Russia studied Singapore’s experience closely when implementing its own national universal electronic cards project. Now, Volodin said, the two countries will identify priority modernization and investment projects that require government support. In particular, the parties will negotiate terms for cooperation in special economic zones as well as in the Russian Far East and Tatarstan.

At the meeting, Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam noted that Singaporean companies are interested in operations on the Russian market but lack information about it. Being a small country, Singapore will concentrate on very specific projects in a limited number of regions, Shanmugaratnam added.
