MSCI Russia Index integrates Rostelecom stock

Starting September 1, 2011, the MSCI Russia Index will integrate the stock of Rostelecom, Russia’s national telecom operator, with a weight of 3%, Russian business daily Vedomosti reported yesterday.

Rostelecom was originally included in the index until its reorganization process started in 2009.

The MSCI Russia Index is a free-float adjusted market capitalization weighted index designed to track the equity market performance of Russian securities listed on MICEX, one of Russia’s two main stock exchanges. The index currently includes the stocks of 26 companies.

Rostelecom will be the second telecom company – after MTS – included in the index.

The MSCI Russia Index orients the investment policy of many funds operating on Russian capital markets.
