SmartLabs secures Russian IPTV contract

London – SmartLabs, a leading Russian provider of digital TV solutions, has started to deploy a large-scale unified IPTV platform for Rostelecom service providers in all Russian Federation regions.

Within the project, all separate IPTV platforms currently running in the regions will be replaced by the unified one based on a number of SmartLab products.

Rostelecom undertook a tender to select a unified platform provider in which the largest global and Russian IPTV solution developers and integrators took part.

The three key criteria it used in selecting the eventual winner were “total cost of ownership, time to market and compliance with the operator business development strategy.”

The unified IPTV platform is expected to launch at the end of this year and will help extended traditional services such as TV channels and VOD with new interactive and OTT services provided to various mobile devices connected to the internet.
