Putin requests consolidation of administrative databases

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has entrusted the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media with the task of integrating the databases of all departments and ministries before to July 1, 2011. “We’re talking about a single portal for all public services, information and service sites, integrated communications channels, departmental and regional data banks,” said Mr Putin. According to legislation on public services, beginning July 1, state agencies will no longer be able to request information already stored on other administrative databases from citizens.

The system of inter-agency integration is being set up by the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media on the basis of Rostelecom as part of the Federal e-government program. Rostelecom will be responsible for consolidating regional, federal and departmental data into a single database for handling and sharing information obtained from various state agencies across the country.
