Russian business angels join European association

The National Association of Business Angels (NABA) announced their having joined the European Trade Association for Business Angels (EBAN), the leading European association of business angels.

Russia’s leading organizations of individual venture capitalists established NABA in 2009 with the support of the Russian Association of Direct and Venture Investment and Rusnano, the State Corporation of Nanotechnologies. By NABA’s own estimates, the present volume of individual venture capital investments in the Russian market amounts to $500m per year.

Entry into such an experienced and serious European organization is an important event for Russia, says Konstantin Fokin, the president of NABA, because the domestic market of venture capital investment is still very young. “Our task is to achieve the greatest benefit possible through many years of work with EBAN,” he said. During 2011 NABA plans to participate in EBAN’s international events, the largest of which will be the annual congress in Warsaw on May 12 and 13.
